Vhavenda Heritage Dress

Thebe Magugu's Vhavenda Heritage dress is a long crepe dress featuring a plunging neckline, balloon sleeves and a neck tie. The Vahenda people, found in South Africa's Limpopo province, trace back to the 9th century. Dancing, singing and drumming are central to the Vhavenda people, as they use these techniques to celebrate rites of passage and connect with the spiritual. The Nwenda is the colourful upper garment that the Vhavenda women wear as well as colourful beaded jewellery, such as bracelets and anklets.
