Pembetatu means "triangle" in Swahili, a symbol of balance, the triangle decorates the painted faces of the sipolios or 'young warriors'. Who decorate themselves with white beaded jewellery during their rite of passage to warriorhood. These earrings are inspired by these adornments with their dramatic shoulder-grazing length and triangle details.
